Engineering managers have incredible opportunities to play a significant role in shaping the development of these technological advances, and the course of the societal transformation they are fueling. Through the countless strategic and operational decisions they make, engineering managers guide the development of technology in the production of goods and services that fulfill commercial and social needs. To be as effective as possible, they must possess both the engineering expertise to understand the technology they are managing, and the managerial skills to facilitate the efficient development of that technology.
