Engineering Management receives record number of applications

By: Cornell Engineering Management

Record numbers of students continue to apply to the Cornell Engineering Management program, as seen by a 43% increase in applications to the On Campus program over last year’s record-breaking number. More than 650 students applied for acceptance into the Fall 2022 cohort. There has also been a significant increase in the demographic and geographic diversity of applicants, including many first-generation students.

Despite disruptions from the pandemic, the Engineering Management team has engaged prospective students through virtual information sessions, office hours, and other live programming. The admissions committee evaluates candidates on multiple measures including academic preparedness, creativity and innovation, resilience and adaptability, contributions to diversity, and leadership potential.

“I am really excited to see our back-to-back record breaking increases in student applications. We have made it a central focus to grow and diversify our program. Our talent pool is truly impressive and well positioned for making the innovations needed to meet global opportunities and challenges," said Patrick Reed, Director of the Engineering Management Program and Joseph C. Ford Professor of Engineering at the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering.

An increase in applications leads to more prestigious admissions with the brightest and most motivated candidates receiving offers to join the program. We look forward to seeing these talented students on campus soon.
